When we founded Kurker Paget, we committed ourselves to offering our clients unparalleled service, and fee arrangements that are fair, flexible, and predictable. We also make non-billable investments in our client relationships, and use innovations in information technology to optimize our efficiency.
Due to Kurker Paget’s location and size, we are able to offer our clients highly competitive rates. We do not charge for an associate’s time attending ordinary client meetings, hearings, investigations, or other matters that only require one attorney, even when our clients benefit, as they do, from the presence of two attorneys.
Fixed Fee Representation
For those clients seeking such an arrangement, we defend matters before the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination and the EEOC for a flat fee, from receipt of the Charge through the agency’s probable cause finding. Our representation includes meeting with witnesses, reviewing documents and other tangible evidence, drafting, revising and filing the position statement, attending the investigative conference, and responding to requests for additional information. This flat fee will include the attorneys’ travel time and costs. If the Commission issues a probable cause finding, the client can elect to negotiate a flat fee for the remaining stages of the matter or proceed to hourly representation. Of course, clients always may elect to retain Kurker Paget to represent them on an hourly basis.
In addition to competitive and flat fee billing, we provide the following non-billable investments to our client relationships:
Research. We do not charge for legal research conducted using Westlaw.
Travel. We do not charge clients for regular expenses incurred traveling locally to and from the client.
Post-mortem meetings. We invite the opportunity to meet with clients at the conclusion of a project or matter to debrief and assess our clients’ satisfaction. We do not bill for our time preparing for and attending such meetings.
With more than thirty years of practice between us, Kurker Paget has built an extensive electronic library of forms, pleadings, briefs and research. We rely upon our prior work to minimize the number of hours we spend on any particular matter.
